Adoption Center - Adopting a Rescued Cat or Kitten
Adoption Policies |
Easy Steps to Ensure the Perfect Match
Before adopting a rescued cat or kitten, please read our following adoption policies and complete the Adoption Application.
Adoption Fee
When you choose to adopt one of OCARC's animals, the adoption donation is $120. Each of our cats and kittens has been:
- Spayed or neutered
- Tested for FeLV (Feline Leukemia)
- Tested for FIV (Feline Aids)
- Given their first FVRCP vaccination
- De-flead (topical Revolution or Advantage)
- De-wormed (tape and round worms)
These services would usually cost more than $300. Of course, an adoption donation of more than $120 is always welcome, since we often provide additional medical care such as x-rays, blood panels, treatment for ears, eyes, upper respiratory infections and viruses.
Remember: Once you adopt a new cat into your family, all veterinary care is your responsibility for the life of your pet.
Pre-screening Process
To ensure that we place our cats and kittens in loving, responsible and committed homes, there is a pre-screening process conducted before anyone can adopt a pet from OCARC. Our first responsibility is to the cat or kitten and to ensuring a permanent, lifelong match. For this reason, we reserve the right to decline any adoption.
Return Policy
We never want our cats or kittens to end up on the streets or at a shelter again. If, for any reason, you want to return a cat or kitten you've adopted from us, you can do so within 72 hours for a full refund of the adoption donation. After that, if you need to give up your OCARC cat or kitten, and you are unable to find a suitable home, you may return him/her to OCARC, pending board approval. We won't be able to refund the adoption fee, but we will place him/her in a new home. All cats/kittens must be re-tested for FeLV and FIV before a return will be authorized, and proof of testing and good health from the veterinarian will be necessary.
